About

I’m Emma Davies, founder of The Happy Flock. The majority of my career has been in the corporate world, where I had the privilege to lead teams of epic people within creative product-based companies.

Alongside my career, I have long been on a path of discovery to live my life as a true expression of myself, my beliefs and values. We are at our happiest and most inspiring when free to live our lives as a true reflection of ourselves.

The most inspiring organisations with the longevity to withstand changing times are also those which represent an expression of clear beliefs & values through their people, actions and aesthetics.

I believe that every individual and organisation holds the potential to bring about positive change in the world. Our greatest power exists when we come together, yet our ability to be effective in teams is underpinned by our ability to know ourselves first. A need that is all too easily ignored in a world that seemingly seeks to divide us, promoting individualism, putting us in competition with each other to be ‘successful’.

The reality I have learnt is that when people are truly united, clear on their common goal, and value and play to each others strengths they can achieve anything. And they can do it with a smile on their face too.

A joined up approach also means that positive wellbeing is a natural outcome of work rather than work being painful, with a need to create separate wellbeing strategies to try and overcome the negativity that the work itself creates.

Business needn’t be as complex as it is made to be. At its core it’s about people. Utilising a simple framework for planning and communication you can quickly invigorate your business whilst easing the load for all involved.

Possibly one of my most treasured beliefs is that work can and should be fun. Serious things can be achieved without the need to be sombre in bringing them about. Yes, I believe that work and life are better the higher the percentage of smiles and laughter that are woven into it. Serious outcomes need not be approached in a consistently serious manner. Sincere work can be completed with a light heart.

My journey in life and business has taught me many great things but the three factors that underpin true change are:

  1. Foundations: Clarity of Vision, Values and Boundaries are essential to happy, successful life & business
  2. Discipline: Creating and committing to a process that keeps your vision at the heart of all you do takes it from vision into reality
  3. Communication: it underpins everything. Whether the ability to communicate goals to a team, or to ask your friends & family to support you in times of stress. Without open communication you can only operate at half efficiency.

Originally from the UK, I met my Canadian husband Daryl whilst living in Los Angeles, and these days I am based in Canada, brushing up on my hockey knowledge!

As you will see I’m a huge advocate for nature and getting outdoors. Often I can be found running (jogging or shuffling are perhaps more accurate words!), hiking, jumping in lakes, or on the yoga mat. A deep passion of mine is hunting out the best local independent makers, retailers, bars & restaurants for their individuality and flair.

As a visual person, I firmly believe that the physical environments in which we live and work impact our state of mind and performance. I have a keen interest in style and design and find my inspiration and motivation are directly affected by the aesthetics around me. I am thrilled when people call me up to give colour and design advice for themselves or their spaces.

Ultimately, I believe that when we care deeper for ourselves, we care deeper for each other and then by default we give back more making the world around us a better place.

I put my money into my beliefs by spending at the places I believe in and I will be sharing along the way about the places I love and would love you to try out!
